

Established in 2004, the College of Basic Sciences Hall of Distinction recognizes alumni and friends who have made significant accomplishments in their professional careers and in their community. It is an honor for us to celebrate these accomplishments, the contributions they have made to the College, and the opportunity to share this success with our future leaders.

Overview
The College of Basic Sciences wishes to honor Alumni, supporters, and others who have significantly contributed to their disciplines, the community, and the College and University by demonstrating sustained excellence in their scientific, business and/or community activities. The Hall of Distinction will honor exemplary individuals of high merit and will emphasize the excellence of our educational and research programs. The Honorees by their actions, deeds and accomplishments demonstrate the role the College has in the educational development of leadership traits the Honorees have shown across their lives and careers.

Eligibility
All individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their profession and community, living or posthumously, and have had formative associations with the College of Basic Sciences are eligible. Included but not limited are Alumni, Emeritus Faculty Members and friends of the College who are Alumni by association. No individual can be considered while an employee of the University. Consideration will be based on accomplishments across a career and include the interactions of the individual with the College and the University. There should be evidence of 1) an outstanding professional record, 2) significant personal achievement, 3) educational, professional, or service activities that provide a strong bond between the individual and the college, 4) evidence of strong integrity and humanitarianism.

Nominations
A letter of nomination from anyone interested in the College must be submitted to the Dean's office of the College of Basic Sciences to start the consideration of the nominee. Nominations may be made at any time. The Dean’s office will acknowledge receipt of the nomination and request the additional information required, if any, by the selection committee. Nominations must be received by November for a nominee to be eligible for an induction ceremony occurring in the spring of the following year.

Presentation of Honorees
The Dean will notify the individuals of their selection as a member of the Hall of Distinction. (In the event the Honoree is deceased, a family member or friend will be notified). A formal induction ceremony will be held in early fall with the time to be determined in part by the schedules of those to be honored. |
