Dr. Gary R. Byerly, Associate Dean, Academic Services
Associate Dean Gary Byerly oversees the Student Services in the College of Basic Sciences. He is responsible for academic programs, student advising, summer school course management, and in addition is the advisor for the Masters of Natural Sciences Program (MNS). Associate Dean Byerly is a professor in the Department of Geology & Geophysics.

Dr. Richard Kurtz, Associate Dean, Research
Dr. Richard Kurtz is the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Basic Sciences. He is responsible for reviewing proposals, budget management and oversight of business services, and the oversight of the College facilities. He is also a tenured professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy.

Martha Cedotal, Sr. Assistant Dean, Academic Services
Mrs. Cedotal directs the activities of the two Counselors and the Assistant to the Dean in the Student Services Division of Basic Sciences. She is responsible for all programs and services administered by college student services including the Commencement Ceremony and the Choppin Honors Convocation. She serves on several University academic committees to help further the College's curricula.

Sara Marchiafava, Sr. Assistant Dean, Finance and Administration
As the chief fiscal officer for the College of Basic Sciences, Ms. Marchiafava manages the business affairs for the College and is operations manager in the Dean's Office. She is responsible for managing all personnel and financial matters including the Machine Run Budget (MRB), salary savings, external funding, and travel for the entire College ensuring that all state, University, and College policies and procedures are followed. In addition, she is the College's key contact for promotion and tenure and sabbatical requests.
