The counselors in the College of Basic
Sciences are the primary premedical/predental advisors
at LSU. They are members of the National Association
of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP) and
attend national and regional conferences on issues
relating to advising of undergraduate students interested
in a career in the health professions. The counselors
in the College of Basic Sciences present informational
meetings each semester for freshmen and sophomores
who are interested in preparing themselves to be competitive
candidates for medical and dental school. Basic Sciences
counselors also serve on the LSU Premedical/Predental
Review Committee and provide workshops on the application
process ranging from meeting prerequisites to preparing
for interviews. Check the website frequently for calendars
of meetings and information sessions.
While the counselors in the College
of Basic Sciences can assist you with the medical/dental
school requirements and application process, students
should see the counselors in their home college regarding
academic requirements for their individual degrees.
The College of Basic Sciences counselors
are located in 338 Choppin Hall. Weekly advising schedules are posted online at http://science.lsu.edu/AdvisingScheduleCal/index.php. You can call (225) 578-4200 to
schedule an appointment during the posted hours or to obtain further information regarding advising.
