and undergraduate research components as part of broader

• HOW TO CONTACT US?
• WHAT SERVICES ARE
AVAILABLE TO FACULTY AND HOW DOES OMR FIT INTO
THE STRATEGIC PLAN?
• First level
During the grant-writing
phase, we are here to help faculty get funded. Major
funding agencies, such as NSF, stress the needs of
the “Broader Impact” criterion. The OMR
was created to assist PIs deal with this particular
component of their grants. Faculty interested in assistance
should contact the OMR at least one month before the
grant deadline for guidance or discussion on REU or
EO strategies.
• Second level
If a grant is funded,
the OMR will assist and advise program coordinators
or faculty members with various EO and REU issues.
• Third level
For large-scale grants
(multi-disciplinary, multi-million dollars, multi-investigators)
requiring substantial REU and EO efforts, the OMR
will help the PI and staff to coordinate these large-scale
efforts. It is expected that larger grants will provide
funding for their own support staff.
• Fourth level
The OMR will help new
REU and EO programs to integrate, where possible,
with existing programs at LSU.
