Socolofsky Microscopy Center http://www.biology.lsu.edu/facilities/micro_fac/index.html
The SMC
is an LSU Cost Center providing microscopy services
of several types.
• Light microscopy
A number of optical configurations are available,
including phase contrast, DIC, fluorescence, and dissection
optics.
• Confocal microscopy
A Leica TCS SP2 with fully configurable software excites
at 6 red and green wavelengths.
• Transmission electron
microscopy
A user-friendly JEOL100CX is available for routine
TEM.
• Scanning electron
microscopy
A Cambridge S260 Stereoscan accommodates 6 samples
at once in a large specimen chamber.
• Digital image recording
and analysis
Several systems, including high resolution cameras
and scanners, as well as deconvolution microscopy
software, are available.
• Assistance
Three research associates are available full time
for assistance with sample preparation, assistance
and training on instrumentation, interpretation of
data, and production of images for presentation.
