research programs and educating the next generation of international
leaders in the sciences. The College includes the departments of
Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology & Geophysics,

biggest questions. Basic Sciences is one of the premier research
and teaching colleges at LSU with an award-winning faculty and
dedicated staff members. Together, we serve LSU and its students
with the philosophy that science education is a cumulative experience
involving classroom instruction, laboratory research and service
outreach.
Dean's Circle
The Dean’s Circle is a special group of alumni and friends of
the LSU College of Basic Sciences who support its academic and development
goals. Members of the Dean’s Circle are advocates for the College
and support its mission through their personal generosity and their
advocacy.
Dean’s
Circle donations are used to initiate new programs, fund current activities,
and provide flexible funding to meet the needs of students and faculty.
Funds from this program also provide critical support for ongoing development
activities in the College. The pursuit of academic distinction in the
sciences is an LSU tradition. Our alumni and friends are an integral
part of the College’s legacy of excellence, and your membership
in the Dean’s Circle helps assure that this legacy will continue
and flourish.
Mission
We aspire to nothing less than excellence in our research and educational
programs. International recognition of our outstanding faculty
and students will contribute significantly to the placement of
LSU among the finest universities in the United States and the
world. International prominence can and will be achieved by addressing
issues that are relevant to the citizens of Louisiana, and by providing
a highly educated workforce that will support a dynamic and progressive
economy for the state and region.
Membership
Alumni
and friends become members of the Dean’s Circle through annual
contributions of $1,000 or more. Members are invited to an annual
