Undergraduate Programs
-----------------------------

The College of Basic Sciences has a very stong student body with roughly one-third of all of its full-time students carrying a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Many of these students are health related pre-professionals; most health related pre-professional students at LSU choose majors within the College of Basic Sciences. LSU graduates typically account for approximately one half of the entering classes at the LSU Medical Centers at New Orleans and Shreveport, and the LSU Dental School in New Orleans.

Graduate Programs
--------------------------

All of the departments within the College offer doctoral programs, and two of our departments, Biological Sciences and Chemistry, have graduate enrollments in excess of 100 students. The department of Chemistry has one of the largest African American Ph.D. student enrollments in the nation.
